Since facsimiles of the original Codex Atlanticus (12 leather bound volumes limited to 999 sets) now sell for about $34,000, I felt that this peek into that collection would be more in line with my budget. I like the large format and subsequent large, well detailed copies of Leonardo's drawings within. Most of my life I have been in awe of his analytical and creative approaches to natural phenomenon and conceptual wizardry for industry, architecture, and inventions of every kind. This tome whets my appetite for more and hence makes me wish that this book was three or four times the number of pages that fascinate me every time I open it. Until such time as I win the lottery and can pick up the big set, this will do a nice job of showcasing one of the most gifted persons in history.
